Tom Trenney, assistant professor of music, has been named the 2024 Nebraska Music Educator of the Year by the Nebraska Music Education Association.

Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) will host one of the most celebrated choirs from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) tradition, the Aeolians from Oakwood University. Led by their esteemed director, Jeremy Sovoy Jordan, the Aeolians will be on campus on Saturday, November 2, for a choir clinic and performance series open to the public.

NWU Commencement

Commencement for the Class of 2024 is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 at 11 a.m. in Abel Stadium. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m.

Lilly Frields was selected as a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship recipient to study abroad.

Frields will spend nearly a month in Rwanda completing research with the guidance of Amy Spears, associate professor of music. Their project seeks to better understand how Rwandan music teachers are integrating music into the healing process of individuals living with HIV.
